Patrick Wolf is set to release his new six track EP 'Brumalia' on November 28th.
Patrick Wolf seems to be entering a creative phase of his career. Fresh from the release of fifth album 'Lupercalia' the extravagant English talent has barely stopped moving, swapping his time between the studio and live commitments.
Finding time to collect his thoughts, Patrick Wolf has brought together material for new EP 'Brumalia'. Due for release on November 28th, the bulk of the new tracks were laid down in The Pool studios on Bermondsey Street and his home studio.
In addition to this, Patrick Wolf has also decided to include a track written on an iPad. Earlier this year the songwriter took off on a tour of the Florida swamplands, intending to find inspiration for new material.
Taking his iPad along with him, the singer jotted down a demo which has decided to leave intact on the new EP.
Named after the Roman mid-winter holiday, 'Brumalia' comes decked in an evocative sleeve. Patrick Wolf is caught in two black and white shot, captured by none other than punk pioneer Patti Smith.
"The artwork for the EP was shot by Patti Smith" explains Patrick Wolf. "These are two photos Patti took of me on Cooden Beach on a freezing windy Winter day earlier this year the day after I played harp and viola for her at the De La Warr Pavilion. To me the photos sum up the bleakness and melancholy of England in the Winter months, which was something that inspired the choice of songs on this EP”.
Due for release on November 28th, Patrick Wolf is currently gearing up for a full British tour. Opening in Edinburgh on October 22nd, further dates include appearances in Belfast, Manchester and more.
